BMW launched the new BMW X5 M and X6 M, which provide not just viable alternatives for the Mercedes-AMG or Land Rover Special Operations but strong arguments to come over to the roundel badge.
The X5 M and X6 M represent the next generation and strength of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segments, taking significant steps forward in dynamic excellence, distinct design, and outstanding efficiency.
Tuning efforts under the hood have brought the 4.4-liter, twin turbocharged V8’s power up from 555 horsepower to 567, and up from 500 pound-feet of torque to an impressive 553 lb-ft. The six-speed auto has given way to an eight-speed Steptronic that feeds power to an xDrive all-wheel-drive system, allowing both cars to jump from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4 seconds—an astounding feet considering the their relatively hefty size.
All in all, the X5 M and X6 M continue to retain the X family’s key features—exclusivity, build quality, agility, and utility—while adding that extra punch that only an M vehicle can boast. It’s not been yet announced when they’ll hit the BMW of Bowling Green dealership, but expect it to be soon.
