Yep, you read it right. BMW is finally introducing the all-new 4-Series, starting with the coupe. We at BMW of Bowling Green couldn’t by any more excited after seeing the concept unveiled last week at the North American International Auto Show. While BMW hasn’t released all the specs just yet, here are a few things we do know already.
- It was inspired by the 3-Series, but the designers wanted the new coupe to have more “exclusivity.”
- The 4-series will borrow the ferocious powertrain of its sedan predecessor. That means it will either be powered by the 328i’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 240 hp or by the 335i’s turbocharged six-cylinder engine which delivers 300 hp. These engines will either be mated to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
- The 4-Series is much sleeker than the 3-Series, lower to the ground for better handling, and adorned with powerful and reliable 20” wheels.
- Won Kyu Kang, the 4-Series designer, wanted to merge the aesthetic with the technical, and he succeeded, delivering a powerful, efficient, and technology-driven world-class coupe that is sleek, aerodynamic, and absolutely stunning.
This concept is actually very close to production; it should hit the manufacturing plants later this year. And then, sometime early next year, this beautiful baby will be coming home to BMW of Bowling Green. Keep checking back in for more details!
