BMW recalls affect the 1 Series, 3 Series, and Z4 Models

Safety is one of our top priorities here at BMW of Bowling Green. We strive to make sure the BMW you purchase is not only the best car for you, but also the safest for you and your family. Today, we’re going to give some information on an electrical issue in the 1 Series, 3 Series, and the Z4 models which has enacted a recall by BMW in the United States as well as Canada.

As stated, the affected models are the Z4 (years 2009-2011), the 1 Series coupes and convertibles (128i and 135i, years 2008-2011), and the 3 Series sedans, coupes, convertibles and sports wagons (328i and 335i, years 2007-2011). The recall is being issued to fix an issue with the connector for the positive battery cable connector and the corresponding terminal on the fuse box. This issue can cause loss of power to the vehicle and may stall the engine.

BMW will be notifying owners with the affected vehicles beginning in March, and owners will be able to have the positive battery cable connector replaced and secured with an improved method, free of charge. Also, owners may call BMW directly for more information on the subject at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW customer service at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
