There has been a lot of talk about the new BMW 2 Series coupe and convertibles as well as the sedan, hatchback, and new GT models for the 1 series. Despite the fact that the BMW 1 Series models are highly anticipated here in the United States, there is a good possibility that our BMW of Bowling Green lot may not ever see one roll in. BMW has recently stated that whether the new 1 series is going to be available in American markets is greatly dependent on its competitive models, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the Audi A3.
Paul Ferraiolo, BMW’s North American head of product planning and strategy, stated that the future of the BMW 1 Series in American markets depends highly upon the pricing levels of its competitors. With the BMW 1 Series pricing tables matching closely to the 3 Series, BMW is worried that with the Mercedes-Benz and Audi models pricing near the $30,000 level market share will struggle. Also affecting the outcome is the BMW Mini which will hopefully be able to stand as a competitor with the new lower priced Mercedes and Audi upcoming models. We here at BMW of Bowling Green, along with many BMW fans across the country, hope that the BMW 1 Series will eventually make it to our car lots. For now it seems only time will tell.
